Black Flag, Minor Threat, Husker Du, Minutemen...do you see them with mohawks and painted leather jackets screaming \"oi!\"? NO!
But so what if some bands do? Does that make them \"not-punk\"? No. It\'s a different style. Before The Casualties, The Virus, Cheap Sex, and The Havoc, todays \"street punk\" bands, there was Anti-Nowhere League, Red Alert, The Partisans, Peter & The Test Tube Babies, Abrasive Wheels, and G.B.H.
Punk is incredibly diverse. The Dickies, Flogging Molly, 4-Skins, Social Distortion, Rudimentary Peni, The Misfits, Bad Brains, etc. There are big differences in these bands, but they are all punk. Some are \"pop-punk\", some are \"anarcho\", some are \"street\", some \"oi!\", some \"crust\", whatever. There\'s differences. I\'m not some PC asshole about to say \"it\'s all punk! there the same!\". HA! they\'re different kinds of punk. EMBRACE IT
but don\'t go thinking that it\'s all a fad, or fashion or a trend or a fucking label.
IT\'S NOT.
It\'s a way of fucking life. DIY rebellion. Thinking for yourself. Supporting your scene. Etc.
Because several groups of people who believe in that \"way of life\" make up a \"scene\". a gathering of scenes means a \"movements\".
MOVEMENTS DON\'T DIE. So it\'s not \'77 or \'82 anymore. Ok. But because it aint\' popular anymore doesn\'t mean it\'s not alive anymore. Shit, this has NEVER been about popularity. -
